Halloween Cake Recipe for Your Glass Cake Stand

Halloween is almost here and how quickly it has crept up! If you are throwing a party, whether for adults, kids, or a mix, you want to serve some ghoulish treats. And for dessert, you want to really make an impression with a great cake. One theme that is easy to go with for your dessert and will look great in your glass cake stand is a graveyard cake. This particular recipe makes a pumpkin spice cake with a chocolate glaze, perfect flavors for the fall!

You’ll need:

      • 8 ounces (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened, plus more for pan
      • 4 cups cake flour, plus more for dusting
      • 4 teaspoons baking powder
      • 1 teaspoon baking soda
      • 1/2 teaspoon salt
      • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
      • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
      • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
      • 2 1/2 cups packed light-brown sugar
      • 4 large eggs
      • 1 cup buttermilk
      • 1 1/2 cups canned solid-pack pumpkin
      • Bleeding Chocolate Glaze
      • Espresso Shortbread Headstones
      • 1 tablespoon ground ginger

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees and butter a 9 by 13 bake pan. Line it with parchment paper with a butter lining and dust with flour.

Now you can whisk  your flour, baking soda,  baking powder,  salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves all together in a bowl. Put butter and sugar in a separate bowl, using an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes until pale and fluffy, then add eggs,  flour, and buttermilk slowly.  Add the pumpkin last and  beat until it’s perfectly combined.

Pour the batter into the pan and bake until the outside is golden and your cake tester comes out of the middle clean. About 40 minutes should do it. After it cools, pour the warm chocolate over the cake as a glaze so it drips down the sides.  Let it stand at room temperature and when cool, add the headstones and you are ready to serve in your glass cake stand!

Barware for The Holidays

As we get further into October, it’s time to start thinking about the holidays. Halloween is around the corner, and Thanksgiving tends to come quickly after that. And you need to be prepared for having people over and having enough to go around! That’s why getting new barware may be a great choice, especially if you are hosting many adults in your place.

When you shop for barware, you want to look at sets that can cover all kinds of drinks. Having just beer glasses won’t do when you have guests over who prefer wine. You need wine glasses, margarita glasses, shot glasses, and maybe even a martini glass or two. If the set comes with a mixer, even better. Anything that can make it easier for you to create the best  concoctions is key.

Barware can sometimes be bought in sets with serving trays, which makes life a whole lot easier. Be sure to also pick up coasters so the glasses don’t ruin any of your furniture. Tags are great to, to put around glass stems so people know which drink is whose. Be prepared for your next party with all the glasses you could use to pour those drinks into!

Tabletop Accessories and Fall Decor

Fall is in full swing as October has started and the weather has cooled.  It’s time to really think about changing the way your household looks and embrace the warm color tones and the decorative choices of the fall. The right tabletop accessories can change your dining room table, kitchen, or even just the table in your entryway to make it feel more festive for the season.

First you should focus on choosing colors. Orange, gold, brown and red are all perfect in that they reflect the changing colors of the leaves outside. These warm tones will really stand out in any room.  Bamboo or dark placemats will compliment well against a deep red or burnt orange tablecloth for the dining room. A wood flatware caddy will be the perfect accessory to bring out the “nature” of autumn.

Pumpkins, squash and gourds are great ways to bring a bit of farm flare to the kitchen or dining room. It’s the season for all those  great crops so having them in the home is a nice way to accessorize with something a little bit different!

Get ready for the change of weather and all the wonderful things that come with it!
